Logit 3.0
(C) 1996 Derek Hessman
What is Logit 3.0?
==================
In short, this is the greatest utility for Telegard that you won't
want to be without. This program will search an entire drive and create
a filebase for every directory that contains files. Got a multi-CD
changer that you want to import directly into Telegard and don't want to
do alot of typing? This is the utility for you! Just tell it the drive
you want to log, where your data files are, all the default settings you
want, and let it go. Quick, easy, and cheap! If a drive is a CD-ROM,
the program will automatically set the upload ACS string to %, set the
CD-ROM flag, and put the drive volume label into the cd label field.
How do I use Logit?
===================
When you run the program, it will ask you for the drive you want to
log. Enter the drive letter. It will ask for the path to your data
files. Enter the path to where your FAREAS.DAT and FAREAS.IDX are
located. It will then ask for default ACS settings. Enter all those.It
will ask if you want to set the status flags. Answer YES to the ones
that you want to set. It will ask for the *.FB storage path. Enter the
path where you want to store the *.FB files. I would suggest the
/FILES directory in your main BBS directory.
After you enter everything, it will show you your choices. You
will then have the option to contine (let the program do its thing), edit
(change the settings you just entered), or abort (bail out and run like hell).
After you choose continue, the program will log the drive and
create all the new file bases. It will then show you the instructions
for uploading all the files in those bases to your BBS. Read this
carefully and follow directions. You will then have the option to log
another drive using the same settings, change the setting and log
another drive, or exit the program.
Guarantee
=========
There is no Guarantee what so ever. USE THIS PROGRAM AT YOUR OWN
RISK. Although I have thoroughly tested this program and it works
great, I will NOT be responsible for ANY damage to your system caused by
use or misuse of this program. Changing Telegard data files in
inherently dangerous. Do a COMPLETE backup before making such major
changes to your BBS. Better SAFE than SORRY!
Distribution policy
===================
You are allowed to use and distribute UNMODIFIED copies of Logit.exe
on the condition that it is kept together with this document which ALSO must
be UNMODIFIED.
Registration
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you find this program usefull, please send $2 to the mail address
below. If you use this program alot and it IS useful and you DON'T pay,
your conscience will bother you forever. I spent more time typing the
code for this program than you will have to do to upload TONS of files
into your BBS.
Special thanks to:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The entire Telegard 3.0 BETA Team - for testing this program and
offering suggestions for improving it.
A special thanks to Ken McDowell for all his help, and for writing
the routine that actually searches the drives. You'd have to see
it to believe it! :)
